We started getting our house ready to sell in July. Then we started trying to sell it in August, my son started preschool for the first time, he started playing soccer & life got very very busy.
We would get a house call about a showing that would end up in the middle of supper time. So I would take the kids to an indoor playground & we would all eat McDonald’s or Wendy’s or Chick-fil-A. We were eating nothing healthy. We went from being a Paleo family to a we eat on the run family.
By the end of December, I felt terrible. And completely overwhelmed with how to get back into the process of eating better & feeling better. I talked to a girlfriend & she said she was feeling the same way, so we rallied some girlfriends & I shared the 21 Day Detox Plan with them (a sugar, gluten, dairy & soy free detox.)While I was doing the 21 Day Detox, I also decided to add back in exercise & that I would start running again.
I was so nervous the day before I was starting the Detox & I was worried about the time commitment of running. Even though I’ve been an athlete for most of my life, I dread exercising. It always always feels like work, it never is fun for me. NEVER.
Then I saw this photo on Facebook the day I was supposed to start my training. It literally changed my entire mentality on going to the gym, trying out new workouts, trying new routes & speeds on my runs, it was AMAZING the difference this one statement made. I felt like a kid again when I first starting playing sports & it had nothing to do with how fast you needed to run a mile or how many points your team needed to score in order to win.
I was 13 pounds lighter after I started the Detox & running again (I started running about 3 weeks before I started the Detox.) No more fast food, juice, empty calories, NO MORE JUNK! I was back on track, I was eating sooo much better, treating my body like it should be treated. The best part, I FEEL AMAZING! I’m not groggy in the mornings, I am managing the stress so much better, & I am happier with how I look.
It’s funny how a simple saying can change your entire perspective. And it was just the perspective I needed. I’m having a blast!
